Help me give my students laptops that they can use while remote learning.

Ever wanted something so bad but never had all the resources to grasp the opportunities in front of you? This the epitome of the lived experiences for my students. Our student body is composed of 100% minority students; with 70% originating from Native American reservations in Arizona. Many individuals see my group of kids and socially construct them as "at-risk."
I say, "My students are not 'at-risk,'" they are divergent!
My students have been raised in environments diverge from the normative household in America. This is not a hindrance but a blessing. In the last eight months, my students have overcome violence, homelessness, joblessness, mental health obstacles, and various other restrictions that seem impossible to overcome. These students not only overcome but exceed in school while juggling the hardships of life.
During the current world pandemic, many students are being left behind academically. Schools and districts are moving towards remote learning, with little acknowledgement or preparation for the students who do not have access to online learning environments. My goal as an educator is to ensure that my students who do not have access to online resources do not get further left behind in the disruption in our education system.
My students deserve and need equitable access to technology.
Throughout their lives they have been left behind and I refuse for them to be left voiceless again. Minority students require education to stand up for them. They require assistance grasping opportunities that are not readily available to them. They require a voice.
Providing my most vulnerable students with a laptop will help them regain their voice and continue their academic journey during this pandemic. Students will learn technological skills that will improve their college and career readiness skills, students will continue to excel in their regular classes and students will not be reduced to struggle with the challenges that inequity brings to them.
