My students need a new bookshelf so they can access the incredible world of literature. Recently my students, who struggle with reading, have found a love for stories, and my goal is to nurture this passion!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I serve students in special education, in a classroom model called the Learning Center where students come to receive their service minutes. I use my classroom for a variety of services such as reteaching skills, breaks, extra support, supporting students with behaviors, and any other accommodations they may need each day. My students range in age from kindergarten through 6th grade, and all have a fire for learning. They come from a low socioeconomic community, but thrive when the right opportunities are provided to them.
My students are excited to learn when they are given opportunities to do so that meet each of their individual strengths.
Many of my students receive support with reading, writing, and math. Therefore, it's my job to make sure I teach them how they learn best.
My Project
My students have found a love for all things literature. I have hundreds of books in my classroom that my students can't wait to look through and open, however, it's become very overwhelming for them due to the piece of furniture the books are currently on. A new bookshelf will allow me to organize the books into different genres and make it more accessible for my students.
A new bookshelf will allow my students to easily look through books, dive into a story, and continue working on their reading goals.
This project will benefit all of my students each day as they dive into great books!
