Help me give my students students a well-developed classroom library. Through the use of new leveled books and bright organizational book bins, ignite their excitement for reading.
My students are creative, thoughtful and full of positive energy! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and activities that allow them to learn through whichever modality serves them best! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my teachers!
Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly.
We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are!
Each student in my classroom has a diagnosis, with the majority being on the Autism Spectrum. Due to their diagnosis, my classroom has become a safe haven and a place where they can feel safe. Each student's differences are embraced and celebrate by myself and all staff.
My Project
Through the pages of great books my students learn to dream and follow their dreams. These new materials would add more to our growing classroom library in which every student will have access. Through the leveled libraries students will have the opportunities to engage in reading at their personal level while learning what it means to read a "Good Fit Book".
Leveled libraries will also allow my students to access books at their levels within their general education classrooms.
In order to be successful across all educational settings, allowing my students to use books from not only the general education classroom, but my classroom will give them more opportunities to develop their love for reading.
Most importantly we are wanting to broaden their minds on what topics they would like to learn more about. Many of them have certain topics they tend to stick with, however, many have expressed wanting to grow their horizons with new topics. In order to make this wish a reality we need to assist them with increasing their reading levels and having books containing many different topics.
