My fourth graders are curious young learners who enjoy being creative and using their imagination to explore, discover and grow. They are sensitive human beings and love to help each other, receive positive feedback, belong to a group. My students are excited to grow in their reading levels and enjoy reading for pleasure!
An area rug, pillows and soft seats would make reading so much more pleasurable!
This is a wonderful group of children in Lake County, CA who fight hard to be their very best each day. My mission is to foster love for learning, hunger for growing and a sense of worth, hope and future by teaching them how to read!
My students read every day for 30 minutes. Every six weeks they update their reading goal and reading level. During this process they are focusing on learning to read and reading to learn. Meanwhile, they are also developing love for reading. Right now they sit at their desks and read. I wish to provide them with a comfortable reading space within the classroom where they can really drive into a book. When this project gets funded and materials arrive to our school my students will be able to sit on the area rug with a book and a pillow and enjoy reading. The comfy floor seats will allow children who need back support to read while sitting on the floor. This will allow my students to continue to grow in their reading comprehension, increase their reading level, become better writers and continue fostering love and pleasure for reading books!
