My students need a reliable computer which will help them research and practice math and reading skills. They also need headphones for my English learners and whiteboard supplies.
I want my students to understand the importance of intellectual curiosity and problem solving. My students come to school enthusiastic and ready to learn, but they crave fun and exciting ways to learn. I want to provide them with different resources and outlets to keep them engaged!
I have four English Language Learner students who would significantly benefit from computers and resources that would allow them to learn English at a faster rate.
Most of my students enjoy hands-on activities and different ways of practicing what they know, other than just using paper and pencil. If we had an additional computer in the classroom, it would allow my students to be able to research their topics while learning important research skills.
My Project
Due to the fact that there are so many international students at my school, and in my classroom, these students desperately need access to a computer. I have one student who does not speak any English. He would benefit from a computer to help him build on his reading skills and so he can listen to English on the computer as he reads.
All of the other students will benefit by being able to research articles on the computer, for their informational writing, as well as using it for additional math skills practice and spelling games.
The other materials are supplies that we desperately need in the classroom. I currently have no tape, and we are running out of board eraser. I also need tape to hang all of their classwork which they worked tremendously hard on.
In addition, these supplies would greatly benefit the room. We use mini whiteboards weekly and the students need expo markers for this. This helps them practice their math skills.
My ELL students need to go on specific websites to help them develop their English.
My other students would be able to do research during school if they do not have computers at home and their parents cannot take them to library to use the computers there. Ultimately, it would have a tremendous impact on the lives of all my students by providing them with more resources for them to learn.
