My students are some of the happiest kids you will ever meet. We come from a low economic community where over 65% of our students are on free or reduced-price lunches.
My students face many types of struggles, yet they show up every day with a smile on their face and determination in their heart to give their very best in class.
My goal for my classroom in the coming school year is to show my students that we are ALL scientists. They can explore and wonder and create in ANY environment they are placed in. No matter their background, home life, education level, they have the ability to reach further.
They deserve the WORLD! And I want to give it to them through education.
My Project
My students participate in a lot of group work. We currently are using mismatched, uneven desks. With the desks being all different, working and sharing ideas together is very difficult.
My students are active learners and need flexible seating options to help them succeed in class and be active learners.
What we are currently lacking is strong, shared surfaces for conducting experiments and group work.
These tables will provide room to work together, collaborate on ideas, create projects, and provide flexible seating for my energetic students. I chose these specific tables because they are extremely durable and are able to be moved easily as well as provide the room needed to work.
If we are going to hold students to high expectations of working collaboratively, then we must provide them with the space to do so. With these tables, students will be able to see the modeled experiments from across the room. Further, students will be able to work on a shared surface as a team without the fuss of supplies falling through cracks and chairs banging into each other.
STEM is a very hot topic right now because we see a direct transfer of skills into college and career readiness. Please help me provide my students with the STEM experiences they deserve with quality tables and room.
