This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are 6th, 7th and 8th grade struggling readers. I teach in the community of Fayette County TN and many of my students do not have internet access. I have 28 students that receive Special Education Services in Reading and ELA and they are in great need of books. They love to read at their independent reading levels.
My energetic Middle Schooler's enter the classroom ready to learn, discover, and explore.
My students are very caring and love to be together. As we continue this school year at a distance, I know that they are struggling so much more.
My Project
Due to the closures of school many of my students do not have internet access. I have 28 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students that receive special education services in reading and ELA. Many of these students read 3 grade levels below grade level and it is difficult for them to complete grade level reading passages.
I was to continue the love of learning while social distancing and would love your help.
Our students need books in their homes because many have no internet access to the technology that students across the state and country have.
I plan on sending out these books in care packages for my students along with snacks that I will provide for them. Because I have internet access, I will call the student and read with them each day. My students have difficultly decoding words, and often parents are still working.
Please help me give this gift of the love of reading to my students during this difficult time.
