Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I proudly teach second grade at a Title I school in Washington. Our school district is committed to putting scholars first and meeting them where they are academically and emotionally.
Distance learning is our new normal and I want my student to have the resources they need at their fingertips.
My 2nd graders can't possibly receive everything they need academically via online, but I am trying my best. Unfortunately, not everyone is able to get the at-home materials they need for a productive distant learning experience. It is my hope that providing distant learning materials for them to work on will assist with academics during online instruction.
My Project
While the future is uncertain, one thing is not is learning in my classroom. Regardless if we have to teach virtually or face to face I want to give my students the best materials for them to learn. We have started Distant Learning for the school year and many of my students do not have headphones to use. Many are home with different families and other siblings engaged in online learning....which brings many distractions and noise into their new learning space. These headphones will support all of my students to engage and respond in class, as well as maintain focus throughout their learning and helping to limit distractions. The whiteboards, markers, and erasers will help students interact during our live stream sessions. The journals and pencils will provide students the opportunity to continue using hands-on materials.
