Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
HMS C.R.E.A.T.E. Studio usually works with over 160 high energy middle school students in grades 5-8 are learning, experimenting and playing creatively through a variety of art materials and experiences. My students inspire me daily with their creativity and determination to succeed despite facing many hardships. During this distant learning situation, my students are all at home with very limited or no art supplies at all.
Our goal is to be able to send basic art supplies to our students directly while they are learning at home.
The ability to create at home is so essential during this uncertain time we are living through. Many of our students have reached out to us explaining they do not have paper, crayons or markers to stay creative.
My Project
These basic art supplies will make a huge positive impact on the social and emotional needs of our kids at home during this uncertain time. Along with being able to complete any art assignments we are posting in our Google Classrooms and distant learning platforms, students will be able to have the supplies for the important need of creative and artistic self expression during this difficult situation. We are hopeful to be able to supply approximately 100 students with markers, colored pencils, crayons, erasers and drawing paper necessary to complete their art assignments and use as a much needed recreational activity while quarantined.
