Help me give my students the materials they will need at home during the Covid-19 pandemic. This will help them be successful during this distance learning period.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
“The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you.” said B.B. King. In my community, many students enter into a classroom having absolutely nothing. For some, they are without a meal, clean clothes, or a place to call home. However, each and everyday, they all leave the classroom with more than they could've imagined: knowledge. For these students that may have little to nothing, this is the one thing that they know they will get every single day.
I am privileged to serve as a teacher in a community where I am able to give children the most cherished thing: a well-rounded education.
Some of these students are learning English for the first time, escaping civil and economic unrest in their native country, and battling poverty.
These beginning, primary years are key to a solid foundation in their education. However, in order to give them this foundation, your support is needed in my classroom. I need to make sure I supply the best hands-on education so these students can use their knowledge to escape the challenges they face today and in the future.
My Project
Unfortunately, my students do not have the funds to purchase the tools we would normally have in the classroom. These tools are essential to their success in reading, writing, and math.
With these materials, students will be engaged in the learning process as if they were with me in the classroom.
The students will have books they normally will only be able to read in the classroom, tools to allow them to be engaged during math, and white boards for writing and math drills. This will allow my students to have all the tools they need to be successful during this period of uncertainty.
