Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Sixth grade is a pivotal year for teaching collaboration, group work, and self-advocacy before the transition to middle school. In this age of technology, my students need opportunities to engage in their learning and with their peers on a regular basis.
My students come from a variety of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds with individual learning modalities, special needs, and varying learning levels, which ultimately create our awesome classroom family!
Pre-teen is a difficult age where a love for inquisitive learning needs to be instilled. Being able to provide them the opportunity to work and create in a variety of settings is essential to fostering a love for independence, as well as teamwork.
My students are uniquely different, talented, and inquisitive. Engaging them in their learning and helping them to become active participants in my learning environment is my goal at all times. Our classroom is a family environment where differences are respected, cultivated, and nurtured.
Our family is in need of a teacher laptop that will allow me the capability to teach my kids digitally.
My Project
Digital learning is a challenge, but welcomed. I have found over the past 3 weeks that I have grown so much as a professional in technology; however, my home laptop is ill-equipped to handle the learning platforms that are needed to implement digital instruction.
I would love to be able to effectively run a Google classroom that incorporates Flipgrid, Google Apps, online media, virtual instruction, and much more.
I have found that when trying to utilize these very cool technologies, my 10-year old laptop can not handle the load.
Moving forward beyond digital learning during quarantine, I would be able to take the laptop to and from school, which would make lesson creation that much easier and sharing what is created at one place or the other seamless.
