My students are special because they come to school every day rain or shine wanting to learn even though some haven't eaten nor have the support from their loved ones. Many of the students require additional accommodations in order to comprehend the lesson being taught. I work with a unique population of students who are not able to have the same resources as their peers. More than 90% of the student population qualifies for free and/or reduced-price lunch. Approximately 80% of the students live in single-family homes and 15% are homeless. This coronavirus has caused my students' daily schedule to be impacted in a negative way. I have been able to teach my students via email and Zoom in order to increase their comprehension. Teachers have not been able to go to their classrooms to get their materials. My materials are the tools that I use in order to assist my students in their learning.
These items will help me provide better instructions during these changing times. By having the post-it notes it will help me to create a whiteboard so that when I am having my Zoom meeting, I can have something visible that students can see. Since teachers are not allowed to go to their classrooms to pick up any materials, these materials will allow me to create a classroom at home. By having the file cabinet, I will be able to store my student's assignments and their IEP/504 plans safely. Since I am working from home, I want to be able to create a mobile classroom so that I can provide my student with some stability. The office supplies will assist me with being more organized with my students' grades and all of their accommodations.
Ensuring my student's privacy is the most important to me so that is why I am requesting the Earpods.
When speaking to my students, I do not want them to feel that others can hear them. Having these supplies will definitely help my students with gaining all the information they need to end the year successfully.
