Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a very diverse Title I school, in the inner city, which serves students in grades PreK-5. Each morning, my students actively came into our classroom eager and excited to start a new day of learning.
Now, because of COVID-19, my students are trying to continue their learning from home.
With information lacking and schools closing so abruptly, my students did not receive the necessary supplies every student should have in order to continue their learning from home. Regardless of the struggles that we are currently facing, my students still try to complete their assignments on Class Dojo and show up to our weekly Zoom meeting, smiling. They motivate and inspire me to dig deeper and I would like to thank them for their hard work and dedication to learning, during these very challenging times.
My Project
My students are in need of basic school supplies to help them successfully participate in distance learning. They need items such as dry erase lapboards with dry erase markers. Many do not have access to technology at home and therefore, they still rely on paper and pencil school work.
I would love to provide my students with these materials in order to support their distance learning experience!
The dry erase lapboards and dry erase markers will be used for spelling and high frequency word practice. They can also be used for math and writing during our distance learning. The markers will be used for illustrations in their daily journals. My students will be so appreciative and surprised to get these materials. Please consider supporting our distance learning project.
