This pandemic has greatly impacted my families and my students. We have been out of the school for 5 weeks and we are trying our best to continue to provide learning experiences for our students.
The challenges that we are faced with are materials that are available to the students to supplement their learning.
The majority of our families are faced with providing basic needs for their families. Many have lost their jobs or are still trying to work while home schooling multiple children.
Our district was gracious enough to provide IPads and hot spots to our kiddos that did not have accessibility to online learning. We have all our kids connected to Seesaw but we are running out of home activities when the don’t have access to simple items that could be used to extend learning and allow them to do activities in their home vs on Seesaw.
My Project
These materials are items that would supplement our area of study and allow the students to use manipulative to work on math and literacy skills while doing distance learning at home. These materials all have a specific purpose that we would be provided along with instructions. The items would allow students to creat and construct letters, words, make patterns make groups for 1:1 counting, use to describe where abject are at using positional words. It is important that students are learning through hands on activities and not just through touching a screen on a tablet using Seesaw. Please help us give our students the similar experience at home that they would get if they were in the classroom. The children would feel very blessed to be gifted with these items.
