My students are wanting connection and normalcy back, as anyone does. They enjoy seeing their friends on google meets. I worry about those that never show up. Are they okay? Do they have enough food?
We never had closure, never knew we were leaving and not coming back.
The kids are mostly doing the best they can online, and I'm doing the best I can figuring out how to keep their education interesting and exciting online. It isn't the same, but it's what we have and I'm thankful we at least live in a time where technology allows us to communicate with one another.
It is difficult to teach 5 and 6 year olds from home and online. We are an active group that thrives on interaction and hands on learning. I am doing the best I can with this transition to online teaching. The tech piece has been a huge learning curve for me! I am now able to use many online tools but am not at the point of designing games/ activities myself to include with each week of learning. Being able to purchase ready to load learning games and activities to reinforce math, reading and science concepts would be very helpful. The kids would have immediate access just by clicking on these links. I have learned these past four weeks that the activities need to be easy enough for the kids to access on their own if I want a high percentage of participation.
Teachers pay teachers is a platform where teachers that do have these technology skills design and sell activities that are ready for online use.
You just click and drop them into your classroom and they are ready for interaction by the students.
