My Students
Our students are kind, creative, and conscientious. Although our school building is in an urban setting, we are focused on bio-regionalism and our classrooms are often extended beyond the school walls. Many students lack the resources to travel even at the regional level. Many have never gone camping or even seen the ocean, so we strive to make the outside world free and accessible to them as best we can, offering experiences that many other schools cannot or will not offer.
My Project
Many of my students have expressed an interest in trying macramé as a form of expression over the past year. I would like to create macramé kits for students and their families to take home to create together, and then eventually come up with their own designs and patterns to, in turn, share with others. These materials will help us kickstart this project, along with other macrame projects planned for our school, like public workshops, craft fairs and fundraisers when we can finally all be together in the same place.
