My students are very inquisitive, kind, thoughtful and full of wonderful ideas! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to investigate and evaluate. They generally come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. I adore them all.
Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly.
We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are.
My students are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year.
My students have been out of school for over a week due to the COVID-19 response efforts- we have no idea for how much longer they will remain at home. I'm extremely concerned, that without access to technology, my students will lose hard won skills, will not progress academically, and be woefully unprepared to move on to 2nd grade.
With these tablets, students could access my zoom lessons, read alouds, and I could teach the class remotely.
I hope to stay connected with each student and help them to learn all they need to know to be successful in 2nd grade.
If students were to have tablets at home on which to complete lessons, I could be sure that they're learning and also know exactly how to help them when they're struggling. My school provides each student with an i-Ready subscription but my kids need these tablets in order to access their lessons. i-Ready is fun, interactive, and even has fun learning games to reward students for staying on task and completing lessons.
Most students in our grade have no access to a tablet or a computer so they're unable complete the online work we have assigned nor can they access the resources we've gathered. Given our school's closure and unknown start-up date, I'm very concerned about their academic trajectory and their readiness for second
