Help me give my students access to distance learning during COVID-19. With Comcast generously providing free and reduced internet access, some of my students still lack the technology to continue to participate in their education.

I have 19 amazing students who love books and interactive activities. I have 11 students receiving services as English language learners; three of them are attending school for the first time. We are so fortunate to have so many different backgrounds and cultures in our classroom.
In our classroom, we are constantly reminded of the power of communication as we try to navigate our day with verbal and nonverbal communication.
No matter where they are in their language acquisition, one of my students' favorite centers is the library. They love the freedom of selecting their own books. It is so special to watch them find books they connect with, whether through representation or interest.
My students are always open to learning and especially love hands-on activities that allow them to learn while having fun. Of course, they love the computer lab — it is no wonder because this is the time where they can engage in their learning in a low stakes and targeted environment. Technology provides access to information and additional resources beyond our classroom and their homes. My students are so deserving of every opportunity to learn and all the access points to education.
These are trying and unprecedented times for all of us. For students and families in high needs communities, the effects are exacerbated.
Distance learning requires access to technology (like laptops and tablets) that some of my students do not have.
My wish is to be able to hold synchronous classes with my students, so they can see me, their peers and still feel like they are taking part in a form of active learning.
Having computers will ensure that COVID-19 does not create an even wider opportunity and achievement gap for our most vulnerable students.
