Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
COVID-19 pandemic has turned my students' lives upside down. My students come from a low socioeconomic background and 100% of them received free breakfast, lunch, and supper when we were attending school.
Many parents are out of work and are struggling to provide their family with food and other basic essential items.
Some parents are still working and worrying about keeping their family safe. They are taking it one day at a time and are grateful for the help that is available. This pandemic is hitting these communities the hardest.
My Project
It's been about five weeks and my students and I are finally getting a handle on this remote learning. We are working hard using chrome books and tablets. They really could use earbuds since it is hard to block out all the background noise. Many of them do not have an extra room or quiet place to go to when we are having our Zoom gatherings. This would alleviate one of our problems and help them concentrate.
We are hitting all the academic subjects and I feel it's time to incorporate some things they like best -- science experiments and art.
It would be great to have drawing lessons and share our completed masterpieces. Since our art supplies are locked up at school they need a drawing pad, colored pencils and crayons. The "How to Draw" book and art videos that I can post are where we will find our inspiration.
