Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a very diverse Title I school, in the inner city, which serves students in grades PreK-5 and provides rigorous academics and a safe learning environment. All children receive free breakfast and lunch due to this neighborhood's socioeconomic status. They come from a wonderful mix of ethnic and economic backgrounds, and despite any challenges that my students may face, they come to school daily, prepared to do their best.
Each morning, my students actively come into our classroom eager and excited to start a new day of learning.
They walk into the classroom bursting with energy, creativity and full of life. My students truly inspire me with their passion and an insatiable love for learning.
My Project
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the Shelter-in-Place mandate in my state, my students and I are trying to adapt to online instruction. It is definitely a work in progress as students, parents and I try to adapt to distance learning.
I am looking for support in the purchase of a laptop, so that I can help provide engaging lessons for my students as we learn to readjust to this new way of learning.
I would like to be able to work efficiently and try to be innovative, as I redesign lessons and support my students through distance learning. I need to be able to set up virtual conferences for my students and parents with a working laptop. Soon, my students will be given digital devices, in an effort for them to continue their remote learning from home. Therefore, it is imperative that I also have a device that can access apps and has capabilities to be able to continue my instruction through any and all virtual platforms.
I currently use my school laptop, which is six years old and constantly freezes up on me. It has a jammed disk in it, and works slower than a moving snail up a sidewalk.
Please help me continue to offer my students the consistency of school routines during this very challenging time by donating to our project.
