This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at SJLA. Currently, my students face many challenges in their endeavor to achieve their educational goals. East Los Angeles is a low income area, and my students almost never get a chance to have experiences outside of their neighborhoods. Many of my students suffer from poverty and face challenges such as undocumented immigration status, single parent households, homelessness, and other great challenges. It is important for me to have the right technology tools to support them in distance during this trying time in our world's history.

My Project

These materials will make in a difference in my students' learning because the use of an iPad will allow me to make interactive activities that will allow my students to access the curriculum in a more equitable way. I will make videos using the touch screen and the stylus writing features. My students will be able to work at their own pace rewinding as much as they need. These videos and other interactive assignments will help bridge the gap between students who only need to see things once, and students who may need to go at a slower pace in order to fully understand the content of the lessons presented.
