My students need to be able to dissect organisms to see their similarities and differences. I have chosen a dissection packet which includes pigs, frogs, and worms.

Have you ever seen a student's eyes light up with interest and enthusiasm for a lesson being taught?
My goal is to find ways to bring Science "to life" for my students. Animals are a fascinating topic among middle school age kids, and I would love to spark their curiosity with this lab activity.
Our school is located in the scenic foothills of north central Arkansas. We are surrounded by nature's beauty and are in a rural setting. Our middle school building is housed with 6th through 8th graders. My students are all in the 7th grade. In our school, over 50% of students receive free or reduced-price meals. Many of our students come from homes in which they live at or below the poverty level. I have found that my students are interested in science, but desire more experiences for hands-on learning and real life applications of the information being taught.
My Project
I strive to find ways to stimulate my students' interest and curiosity, and I look for ways to draw their attention.
When thinking of possible specimens to dissect, I thought it would be good for students to compare and contrast the anatomy of multiple different kinds of animals.
I would like to perform the dissections during our unit on Animals. I believe being able to examine the internal and external anatomy of these organisms would be an exciting way to help bring this topic and lesson to life.
I have a desire for my students to be excited about science, and when I can find ways to garner their interest and attention, I jump at the opportunities.
My students enjoy hands-on learning.
Funds for Science lessons can be hard to come by. Having donations towards this project would be wonderful. Any time students are interested and engaged in their learning, a classroom is improved. I want my students to love science as much as I do. Finding ways to foster affection for this subject is important to me.
