As I approach the second half of my first year of teaching, I am still on cloud nine. This year has been incredible. I love to teach! I teach third grade at Moore Elementary, a school that focuses on teaching to multiple intelligences. As our curriculum includes the skeletal system, I know my students would LOVE to dissect owl pellets. Owl pellets are what owls regurgitate after they eat a whole rodent. Owl pellets contain the bones of the animal that was eaten. When dissecting owl pellets, students can explore different bones of the skeletal system, even comparing rodents to humans. This hands-on exploration would ensure excitability and acquisition of knowledge. My students would soar through this part of the curriculum if we could obtain such enticing materials. Please help me continue to make my first year one I will never forget!
