Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I cannot express how important and special my scholars are to me. They come from a poverty-stricken area where crime and sirens are a norm. 94% of our Middle School students receive free or a reduced priced lunch.
My school is an IB world school, meaning rigor and a global mindset is a must!
College readiness is our mission through rigor assessments and social-emotional awareness. We want 100% of our scholars by the time they graduate high school to attend a 4-year university.
My Project
These materials will make a difference by allowing my scholars to explore biology by way of 3-D instead of paper and pen. Dissection in science class has always been a childhood memory of mine since middle school! The frogs will be an excellent way to get my students to be excited and interested in anatomy! The scalpels will be the device we will use to dissect the frogs. The frogs will be large enough for scholars to work in groups in case some scholars feel more comfortable in pairs. The frogs will also be a good learning tool for their 9th-grade year (Biology).
I want to bring Biology to my classroom through dissection!
As my students are dissecting, they will learn parts of the frog's anatomy they never knew even existed.
