Displaying those Wonderful Books
My students need an area where books are easily stored and seen on topics that we are learning about.
We learn about the most interesting topics in second grade, but the books I have to encourage their curiosity are hidden on the book shelves. I would like to have the books front and center so they can extend their learning about Science, Social Studies, Math, and holidays!
I teach in the grade school that I attended and absolutely love it.
I have a group of 23 second graders who love to learn. They continually want to learn more through books and the computer. I love to see the excitement they have when they find something in a book that they want to share with others.
I love to buy and share books with my students. We have many bins around the room, exploding with books. Last year I began organizing them and purchasing a variety of different subjects and holiday books. Right now, I do not have an area where I can display and students can easily see the titles. I believe by having such a book display, I can key in on certain topics and honor the wonderful authors and illustrators whose books are hidden on the shelves of my classroom.
I believe that gaining a love of reading is so important and will help all students become better readers and succeed in life.
I want to highlight many different genres, authors, and illustrators so students' can find those books that interest them most and light the love of reading.
