I work at a school in southern Louisiana. Woodlake is a Pre-K to 3rd grade school. I am a first grade teacher who teaches every subject. The main focus at this age is to get the students to be successful readers. While putting the focus on reading, we have lost some of the natural discovery about our world. The minds of my first grade students are very imaginative. The students are curious and wonder about the world. However, our classroom is lacking the materials for the students to explore and discover. I would like my students to have microscopes, prepared slides, and other science resources to meet their needs and encourage their natural curiousity. There are twenty four students in my class. We would need six sets of materials to allow the students to work in groups of four. These materials would provide my students with experiences they have never had before.
