Help me give my students high-interest graphic novels, picture, and chapter books such as The Breadwinner and The Season of Styx Malone. My students need a variety of books as they develop their reading identities.

My Students
Our school is a public school located in a small town in Florida that has some of the most hard-working families I've ever met.
When I first stepped foot into my classroom I had no idea the type of students I'd encounter.
I'd been told that it would be challenging and lots of hard work. What I found when I got there were eager 6th graders striving to become better students and overall better citizens within their community. Most of my students have only known this small, agricultural town and see themselves one day raising their own families there. The community is very close-knit and some of the friendliest people I have ever met.
My students come to school daily with the intention to make their teachers happy. It's exciting to see them master content that they initially struggled with. It's their desire to be better than they were the day before that inspires me to be the best possible teacher I can be.
My Project
With a new school year underway, I have new developing readers in my classroom. Beginning on the first day, we have been reading books of different genres and mediums about people like us and those who are different from us.
We are beginning to learn more about ourselves.
In a short period of time we have already learned not to judge a book by its cover, literally.
This project will help to expand our current class library with many titles requested and suggested by our peers. Nothing is more enjoyable than hearing students enthusiastically talk about what they are reading with their friends.
