Help me give my students the experience of creating volcanoe, simulating earthquakes and observing the butterfly lid cycle. They’re Education is minimized because they are in an overpopulated urban area. Help me serve their minds.

My students are knowledge thirsty children that WANT a hands on learning environment. They live in an socially, recreationally, and educationally underserved urban city that seems to only offer crime as a means to an end. I believe in the same philosophy of Booker T. Washington’s when he expressed the needs of African Americans; our children need to learn life skills and the academic tie to those skills in order to have any chance of upward movement. However, without the right tools/equipment, that will not be possible.
Some people are not audio/visual learners. Most of us need the hands on experience in order to understand the concept. My classes are made up of 94% tactile learners because their reading and listening for understanding scores are very low. These materials will offer an opportunity for concrete and tangible understanding. Once my students begin to experience experiments through a hands-on approach, the ability to infer, interpret, conclude and create logic within their minds, will be enhanced. Take for example, the volcanic experiment; students will be able to experience how a volcano works and draw conclusions that chemicals are dangerous.
