My students need electronic materials, such as Makey Makey sets and littleBits kits, to create working inventions. They want to learn, experiment, and invent.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
" I want to know more about robots!...I want to learn how to build a computer!.....I want to make another picture on the computer!"
My students have superpower abilities that can surpass any of their labeled disabilities.
Our school specializes in creating educational experiences for children living with autism, intellectual & developmental delays, learning disabilities and social-emotional special needs. A large quantity our student population live in a low-income household or foster care system in the Bronx. Society may tend to underestimate their contribution to the world. However, my students think outside the box. They search for their skill sets and use them to overcome their academic and social-emotional struggles.
My Project
Our students can think critically even though they live with disabilities. My student should have more access tech knowledge beyond a touchpad and a mouse. The LittleBits and Makey Makey kits will allow my students to engage the world of technology and offer a very hands-on learning experience.
Invention brings us closer to the world.
It allows us to explore our ideas and reinvent the things around us. The materials requested are ideal because they offer an EASY TO TEACH approach to learning about engineering real world solutions. The LittleBits are color-coded electronic bits snap together with magnets for foolproof inventing. With the Makey Makey materials, students can make any conductive material act as the input device for a computer.
Enable my students to build useful things for themselves. Because both items come pre-programmed, students with no coding experience can use it and learn to experiment with it as they start to learn coding. These exceptional resources will be used to start up an invention lab within our Technology class. The objective is to foster curiosity about how things can work, provide real-world design challenges and encourage intuitive thinking and problem solving.
