Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I will be teaching second grade this upcoming year in a hard to staff school in the South Bronx. The students come to school with limited resources and not a lot of background knowledge. I try to compensate for this by introducing as many new things as possible during the school year. One thing I would like to do this year is to have an Art Center where the students can express themselves by painting, drawing, and creating new things. The school does not have an Art Teacher, and since most of the students don't have an opportunity to do this at home, Art Center time will be one of the few times students can tap into their artistic abilities! I am writing this to get a few art easels, paints, clay, and a few other items to use for the center.
