It is hard to believe we have been learning at home for over a month now. I am providing online materials as well as learning packets since some students have access to technology and some don't. I helped students get iPads from our classroom if they had internet, but not all do. Some have access to books, but many don't have books at their reading level. Some parents are still working or are working from home. We will continue to do distant learning for the remainder of this school year.
My Project
I am connecting with my students in a variety of ways. I would like each student to have some materials to work with at home. I will provide different activities for them to complete. They can use the playing cards for math games. Counting on helps get kids ready for addition, and double dice games are perfect for some practice! They can also "Race to 100" using the dice. Children don't even realize they are practicing math skills because they are having so much fun. The treats will be used as incentives as they complete certain levels after AR testing on books they have read.
About every other week I do a distant "Drop and Go" on my students' doorsteps with materials they need.
Having these dice, playing cards, and treats will really help me in continuing to provide my students with the things they need to complete our distant learning together.
