I teach at an elementary school full of fun, engaging, smart, and creative students. Not only is our school a k-5 elementary school, but we also have preschool students as well, and I am the lucky music teacher to all of them!
My students are amazing little musicians, they love to move, create, sing, and play in music class!
I love their originality, willingness to try something new, and encouragement of other students and their work.
The students that walk through the music room door are very diverse and come from different homes and backgrounds, and have different emotional and physical needs. This is a safe space for them to be tuneful, artful, and beatful, and be themselves.
My Project
Imagine a classroom of 4th grade students feeling, creating, and improvising rhythms with each other, expressing their emotions and feelings in ways words fall short. Imagine a group of 1st grade students laughing, moving, and playing a beat game with real world drums. Imagine a group of 4th and 5th grade students participating in a group titled DRUM (Discipline, Respect, and Unity through Music), educating others on the importance of the arts and how fundamental character traits are nurtured and cultivated through participating in a performance group. These activities and many more stimulating lessons can be experienced through beat and rhythm activities on world drums.
Give our students the ability to experience world drumming and the exciting activities and opportunities they provide!
