My Students

My students from Houston, Texas are the reason I get out of bed every week day! Each special face I see deserves to learn in a safe, engaging and fun environment. I strive to make sure the gymnasium is the students favorite place in the building to be. I work very hard to build a positive relationship with each student that enters my class. My goal is to help my students build a love for health and fitness that will last them a lifetime.

I hope to introduce my students to a variety of physical activities, sports and games to show them that a healthy lifestyle can be fun and worth while.

Many of my students come to my classroom discussing video games and shows they watch/play at home. I teach them as many different activities I can to help them get physical at home as well. Being active and healthy gets the brain ready for all the academic learning each student will do every day.

My Project

These materials will help me teach my students throwing skills and increase eye-hand coordination through the game of disc golf. I plan to use the disc nets as targets for practicing skills shots of various distances. Once the students gain confidence in their throwing skills, I can then set up a 6 hole course for the students to play an actual game of disc golf. At this point I will be able to teach the students the rules, etiquette and scoring of the game of disc golf.

I love to teach students new activities that can be played outside of school and there are many public disc golf courses around the area of Houston that the students could go check out on the weekends or summer!
