Physical education is a high-energy class where students focus on improving their fitness levels and learning how to live healthy lifestyles. I refer to my K-6th grade students as my Winn-ers and they work hard to reflect the criteria for being a Winn-er: Always do your best and never quit. Students enter class excited to get started and leave class enthusiastic about what they have accomplished.
I like to be able to provide my students with many different opportunities to participate in lifetime sports.
My annual P.E. budget of $100 barely covers basic P.E. equipment, let alone specialized equipment for these types of activities.
My Project
Students at my school enjoy playing disc golf during Physical Education and at recess. It has become a very popular activity. Many students have also commented that they like to play disc golf at school after hours. The disc golf baskets will replace temporary laminated paper targets.
Laminated paper targets are zip tied to playground equipment, fences, trees, etc around the playground.
I would like to replace the temporary targets with permanent disc golf baskets.
Three disc golf baskets will be spread out over the primary playground hill, and three disc golf baskets will be spread out over the intermediate playground hill. Both playgrounds can be combined for a six-hole course.
