Third graders are so much fun! They are developing more mature qualities, but still love to play and enjoy being with friends. My class has so many different personalities and interests, but the one thing that brings us together is reading. They love to be read to and they love to choose books to read on their own. I have made it a goal that every child will love reading because we will find them the right book to read.
My Project
These books will continue to enhance literacy in my classroom. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy because they have a wide selection of genre and ability levels to choose from. Every student is thankful for the books we have and they love the opportunity to read. All of these books, such as The Nancy Drew and Sophie Washington collections, have been chosen with my students in mind and are suggestions for what they would like to read next. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.
These books will give students the opportunity to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read at their own grade level independently, but also gives them a variety of genres to help them connect to literature.
Reading makes readers. Students will also be able to choose books that interest them. My students love the time they have to dive into their books. I want them to see themselves as readers and have the books available to make that happen.
