My Students

Do you remember your hands getting dirty, the smell of wet soil with worms wiggling through the dirt? I do and there is something missing on our school grounds and it is a classroom garden and outdoor learning experience. We are ready to get dirty, experience the outside, and "play" in the garden.

Our students are creative, inquisitive, and always ready to learn.

They are project based learners who love to learn with their hands and their hands love getting dirty! Our school is a K-6 school. We are a public charter school in Georgia. We use the museum model to guide our students' learning.

My Project

We need raised garden beds to begin a garden so we can experience the real world through an outdoor classroom. These raised beds will help us expand beyond our classroom walls and explore the farm to school initiative, experience an outdoor classroom, and see the benefits gardens have on many communities like ours. Besides observing bugs and worms, playing in the dirt, and making mud pies, our students will benefit from learning through the garden with science, math, art, and language lessons. Learning in the garden is a real world skill that will take our students to many places and we can't wait to get DIRTY!

It is time to bring our students outside of the four walls.

This is a missing piece and I want our kids to get dirty! Thank you for providing our students with this amazing outdoor experience!
