Help me give my students the gift of project based learning through excavation of dinosaurs!
This project expired on July 27, 2019.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
The students at our school are just like any other students in the whole world. Classroom learning can get so monotonous, but hands on learning never is!
Our students love to do labs and different project based learning in science, but it can get expensive, which hold us back from doing as many activities as we would like.
Our 7th grade class is learning about evolution, and they are particularly excited about fossils, excavating, and paleontology. Giving them the opportunity to actually excavate a dinosaur from one of these kits would be amazing!
Our students are learning about evolution. They are particularly interested in fossils and how they provide evidence for evolution. I would like to divide the field behind our school into 5mx5m plots, bury the kits, make the kids unearth the ground to find them, and then spend several class periods excavating the 'dinosaur bones'.
These materials will make a difference in our student's lives as they will provide them a hands on opportunity to take advantage of project based learning.
They will be using multiple science and engineering practices, such as: analyzing and interpreting data, develop and use models, ask questions and define problems, engage in arguments from evidence, and plan and carry out investigations.
