Welcome to the “Marsh”, home of the "Dinosaurs". My exceptional students all have developmental delays and Individual Education Plans. Many students are also on the Autism Spectrum. Delays are in areas to include Speech, Language, Motor, Social and Cognition. The “Marsh” is the school day home for sixteen energetic, loving, and busy students! These precious children enter my vibrant and safe classroom each day excited to learn and interact through well-planned hands-on centers, small group explorations, and whole class activities. Through the varying activities, students develop the skills to help them progress and acquire the necessary skills for future school success in Kindergarten and beyond.
The philosophy of my school is to first capture the Hearts of our students so that we are better able to teach them to be successful in life.
We are a Title I school located in a rural village with approximately 450 students who come from a variety of backgrounds and ethnicities. Many students come from non-traditional families, broken homes, homeless situations, foster care, and students come from families that serve at our local military bases. I am honored to be able to serve my students.
My Project
My students need positive interactions that are interactive and engaging to stimulate a desire for learning and to help them know more about our world. Students are naturally interested in music and musical styles. Through musical interaction they can become aware of different cultures and how music is made throughout the world. Music will help lay a foundation for understanding history, geography and socialization. I chose items such as the Didgeridoo and the World Instruments Collection to give my students this necessary exposure. They will see, hear and interact with each instrument on a daily basis as part of our normal classroom routines. These instruments will enhance the learning for students for years to come.
