I have the opportunity to spend each day with twenty-five energetic, diverse kindergarten students who never stop asking questions or pushing to learn more. Of my twenty five students, nine are learning English. Two of those nine students entered my classroom knowing no English at all. Aside from languages, my students come from various backgrounds, cultures, and family structures. As an educator, it is crucial for me to utilize methods for instruction that reach all of my learners, regardless of their academic, social, or behavioral backgrounds.
With a brand new, virtual school year upon us, it is my hope to use a variety of digital platforms to design engaging lessons that can be completed on any platform.
Regardless of the technology that is present at home, I want to be sure that my lessons and activities reach all twenty five of my students. They love to learn and I want to make sure that a lack of technology does not get in the way of that!
My Project
These digital tools will allow me to design engaging lessons and activities for my students to complete while we navigate distance learning for the beginning (or more) of the school year. With only a school-issued laptop, I am limited in my ability to create a semester's worth of virtual curriculum.
The proper digital tools will enhance my ability to design lessons that reach all of my students, regardless of the technology they have at home.
By designing lessons on a multitude of digital platforms, I can ensure that whether my students are working on a tablet or computer, they can participate and complete each component of each activity. If I can design my materials on an iPad and a computer, I am providing flexibility to each activity and allowing more students to complete their work.
