Help me give my students a modern, live streaming lectern that they can present to both their peers that are in-person and virtual.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students are special because they are undergoing a tech transformation that yet again redefines the model of what a classroom should look like. The ongoing epidemic, and resulting 100% virtual launch of the high school experience, is an enormous opportunity to get caught up on tech literacy. My students represent the most at-risk student population that is at even greater risk now due to the tech literacy gap.
With your donation, my students will have better access to school tech support.
Far too often tiny technical difficulties get in the way of learning. Both teachers and students are being overwhelmed with tech-related issues. My school does not have in-building tech support so staff such as myself must cope with this issue.
Kids love both seeing and hearing each other whether its in the classroom or online. Connecting in-person with online is vital to sustaining engagement. Online student engagement suffers greatly when they cannot clearly hear or see the presenter. The standard laptop webcam and microphone results in a terrible end-user experience. The message is garbled, engagement falls, and learning is lost.
This digital student lectern will help connect in-person students with their peers online by producing crystal clear audio and video for others as well as basic comforts for the presenter.
Such details may seem mundane, but have you ever had to suffer listening to someone with a terrible mic? Have you ever witnessed someone on a Zoom call and can barely see their face because it was so grainy? If you have, then you can appreciate how this project will eliminate that issue and instead boost and bolster student voice and engagement.
