This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our Title I school is full of wonderful, kind, and caring students who come from all walks of life. Many of them participate in the free and reduced-priced breakfast and lunch program. Even though we have students who have a difficult time bringing the basic supplies to school, they come to school ready and eager to learn.
Our students enter the doors of our colorful school knowing that the staff is prepared to help them reach their potential of being college and career ready.
My Project
Having a classroom that is one to one with Chromebooks, we are able to incorporate technology into all areas of the school day. When I was discussing with my students what is something new and fun that we can incorporate into our day using our Chromebooks, several of them said they would like to creatively complete their story writing on the Chromebooks.
Discovery Education has been a great site that we have pulled many resources from.
One part of this site that I would like to introduce to my students is Board Builder. Board Builder will be perfect for my students to complete their stories on. They can get very creative not only with the setting, characters, and plot of their story, but they will be able to add videos, pictures, and fun colors.
When we are trying to get ideas for our writing we hold brainstorming sessions. Many times it is hard to hear some of my students' ideas and a few are just too shy to speak up. Having a Qball Throwable Wireless Microphone will not only help all of us to be able to hear what others are saying and those shy ones will not have to feel like they are yelling to be heard, but student engagement will be on point.
