I teach 3rd/4th grade and our students are from low-income families and the support and love they get from school really make a difference in their lives. We try to teach them to be good citizens and grow into hard working adults that will contribute to society.
They come to school excited to learn and we want to foster that love for learning and help them grow.
Giving them opportunities they might not ever receive if we did not have support from the outside world...Thank you!
My Project
The students will start a Fairy Tales Unit after Spring-break. The project the kids want to pull together requires using original fairy tales and rewriting them. Similar to restructured Fairy Tales.
They will write their own version of a classic Fairy Tale, then make graphics and read their story online using apps like See-Saw.
The students will be given options such as writing with paper/pencils or a format on tablet. They will be allowed to draw out their pictures using markers and whiteboards or finding pictures and print them out. They will need headphones so that they can video/record themselves and listen to the playback.
For the final culminating activity, students will airplay their videos for the entire class to watch. Parents can also get the link for their child's story and watch from home. Storytelling in the new age of technology can be fun and exciting!
