Digital Storytelling Directors in Need of Technical Assistance
My students need a clapboard, a director's chair, and 10 headphones with a boom microphone to record themselves as they become digital storytellers.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Kindergarten scholars are in their first year of their dual language immersion education. Approximately half of the students in our class are native Spanish speakers and the other half are native English speakers. We are all learning in a bilingual, biliterate, and multicultural classroom.
Our scholars do not have much at home, but they give their all as part of our class.
Eighty-six percent of our scholars qualify for a free or reduced price lunch. About a quarter of our class stays late after school as part of our child care program through the YMCA.
My Project
Our kindergarten scholars love to use the free Seesaw app to record themselves as the use their expanding vocabulary to express what they know. Unfortunately, our kinder voices travel into each others videos. We often hear each other for it is hard to speak into the tablets and focus on our "set" at the same time. As we continue to grow our bilingual vocabularies, we need the materials to present and reflect on why and which words we use when retelling main ideas and are making connections.
In order to be scholarly storytellers, we need the materials to make our digital stories box office successes.
We need headphones with microphones to limit the noise that is currently being picked up during our filming. We need a clapboard to make sure students know when a scholar has begun filming and will lower their own voices. The clapboard will also help student focus on the purpose of the digital stories. The director's chair will help students have a place to present and expand on their finished products when they are using their oral skills to present to the whole class.
