Digital Storytelling: A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words
My students need a Nikon Coolpix camera, a HP Chromebook, Duracell recharger and batteries, and HP ink to begin their journey as digital storytellers.
I have an amazing group of third grade magnet students. We enjoy challenging each other to grow mentally, physically, and emotionally.
My students are enthusiastic, creative, focused, and enjoy a hands-on approach to learning.
They are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning and to have a positive mind-set in everything they do. They come to school eager to learn. My students attend a Title I school in a low-income area. The entire school participates in a free breakfast and lunch program.
Digital storytelling! What perfect timing! Our current theme in Language Arts is "Advances in Technology".
Creativity at work: Capturing the perfect pictures with the Nikon Coolpix, using one's imagination to write a story on the HP Chromebook, and printing the masterpiece on our color printer.
My students will have the opportunity to take photographs throughout the school and around the community. Next they will download the pictures onto the Chromebook and class computer. Then my students will choose the perfect photo and use their imagination to write a story about their photo. Finally, students will print the photo and story and display both for the rest of the school to enjoy. Students can also email photo and story to family and friends.
