Our school district is in a rural community with over half of the students receiving free or reduced lunch. The students face challenges that are not only monetary, but also may include low academic performance in reading and/or math.
Despite the challenges they face, the students come to school motivated and eager to learn.
Digital media helps all of the students in my classroom but having equal access to it isn't always true. Our school strives to provide students with many different technological opportunities that prepares them for the world in which we live.
My Project
Our district recently provided 10 iPads for each K-2 classroom. These iPads are mostly being utilized during center based learning activities for reading and math. This project will allow for students to be able to watch any type of multimedia. It will also allow me and the students to model what we are doing on our iPads.
This technology is very exciting for our students, but can create a noisy environment and a challenge to effectively model for students.
Utilizing rechargeable Bluetooth headphones will cut down on the noise and allow students to incorporate technology into their education.
Apple TV allows for students and teacher to have access to airplay projects, work, and resources with everyone quickly and efficiency.
