I have fallen in love with my students' perseverance and bright spirits! Despite the daily challenges my students face, they come to school with smiles on their faces ready to tackle whatever is thrown at them. I teach at a Title I school where 100% of our students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Many students in my school receive food kits for the weekends and are placed in the Angel Tree program each year at Christmas. Despite living in a perpetual cycle of poverty, their spirits remain unbreakable.
It's no secret that children from backgrounds such as this are underdogs from the very beginning.
That is why they need a champion - someone who believes in them enough to give them a chance at success. This project will open the door to uncharted territory for my students and allow them to reach a level of success they never knew existed.
My Project
Our district has chosen to reopen schools with the option for students to learn remotely. With such an uncertain future, we all understand that, at any time, we could be sent home and transition into 100% remote learning - or even be quarantined for a while and have to continue learning from home for that reason.
We need ways to learn and practice from home!
Our students are 1-1 Chromebooks, so resources that can be purchased from Teachers Pay Teachers would help provide them with ways to learn and practice digitally - especially for subjects for which there is no provided curriculum (science and social studies). We would appreciate any and all support!
