I teach Academic Intervention Services to students in our rural elementary school in upstate New York. Our school has a student population of 350 students in grades K-5 and many qualify for reading intervention services daily. These students are at risk of not meeting grade-level expectations are recommended to receive Academic Intervention Services.
My students come from diverse backgrounds, with a large percentage of economically disadvantaged students.
Many of the students at our school qualify for free and reduced lunch, health and mental health services through community partnerships and our school's weekly backpack program which includes food for students and their families. A percentage of our students and families also struggle to maintain housing and are considered homeless within our district.
My students are eager, young, innovative, and compassionate learners who work hard on a daily basis. Our students are both sympathetic and empathetic to classmates creating a safe and loving learning environment.
My Project
My students have worked so hard to adjust to our virtual school. Each day they show up ready to learn and do their best work. I am so proud of each of them and want to be able to provide them with digital activities to use for reinforcement while at home.
I am hoping to provide my students with digital slides and printable resources that they can use to support online learning.
SNAP word activities, math slides, and phonics slides will allow each of them to continue to practice their learning at home.
