Currently, testing is done with cassette tape technology, and low quality. This netbook also has a video camera for optionally assessing the student’s posture, and other factors in proper technique. Two sets have been received. One more, will allow all students to test in the same period.
The students in the SOCES instrumental program range from grades 5 - 12, and are very ethnically and socio-economically diverse.
They are students in Los Angeles Unified School District. They value the arts, their traditional core subjects, and many other activities.
My Project
I am requesting the purchase of one netbook computer and a USB powered external microphone connector to enhance the sound quality. Having one more will allow me to assess all my students at the same time. These computers also have built-in video cameras that would allow a more complete assessment as to the student's overall performance. This feedback will improve their overall playing, resulting in better performances.
This project will move the recording and grading process into the 21st century, and allow a more thorough grading process.
I am excited by the technology that can assist me in providing better feedback to each student.
