Digital Recorders for Spanish/English Songs, Poetry & Books

My students need 8 voice recorders for a way to record what we read in class so that they can hear the recordings while they read at home with correct Spanish/English pronunciation.

My Students

It's very difficult for students whose parents either don't know the language or can't read fluently with correct pronunciation to support their child's home reading. These digital recorders will give all of my students the opportunity to read fluently in both Spanish and English at home.

Half of my 2nd graders are English speaking students who read in English but want to learn to speak and read in Spanish too and the other half are students who are learning English and want to learn to read in English and in Spanish.

Our school is a Title I school so the awesome thing is that we are challenging and extending what these students learn by preparing them for fluency in both Spanish and English.

My Project

I plan to use these recorders during reading group to record our lessons and then allow the students to check them out to read along in their take-home books at home while they listen to the recordings in Spanish and English. The exciting thing is that all of the commentary and vocabulary explanations will be included in the recordings enriching the students' vocabulary.

Very few of my students' parents are fluent in both languages.

By having these digital recorders available, no students will be left out in regards to supporting their ability to learn to read fluently in Spanish and in English. In addition, there is no other equipment necessary for using the digital recorders so no student will be excluded because they don't have that equipment.
