Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember what it's like to read a story you feel was written just for you, connects to your life, and can change the world? Do you want to help bring that love of reading to a class of young people? Bring our classroom into the 21st century with new Kindle readers and personal notebooks!

Our students are voracious learners.

They are continuously rising to the high standards of scholarship that our school sets for them. As high school students, they are also dealing with a variety of challenges at home and in their personal lives. As students coming to a large urban public school in New York, some would say they face challenges unique to the location. Nonetheless, our students demonstrate impressive tenacity, character, and intelligence on a daily basis. Our students take a rigorous set of college prep level classes in our public school setting. This means that our students have to deepen their critical thinking skills in core classes like English, Math, Science, History, and Foreign Language. We are so fortunate to work with driven, dedicated young people who want nothing more than to better the lives of their families and their world.

My Project

We are asking for 5 Kindles and 120 notebooks. Imagine a classroom with young people. Imagine each them comfortably sitting with an open book or journal. Some of them are reading traditional paperbound books. Some of them are exploring the depths of an Kindle eReader library. Some of them have entered into the world of creation and reflection within their own writing. All of them have found a safe place to be young and curious. Each day, our students prove again and again that with the right tools they will grapple with difficult ideas. Each day, our students demonstrate their desire to work with texts, books, and poems to make more sense of this often challenging world. With modern tools and resources like these, our students will commit to the critical thinking skills necessary for strong communities and futures. Help our students to succeed in the ever changing age of information.

Help our students expand their repertoire of reading and writing.

Help our students succeed in their pursuit of becoming the next generation's critical, compassionate, and reflective thinkers. Take a step in impacting the technological and personal development of the next generation by developing essential skills like reflection and ingenuity through writing and with modern tools like the Kindle reader. Thank you for helping all of our students today!
